Naturactor Coverface Foundation

Today, I decided to give a short review regarding this product that have been making noise since it was introduced in the market. Honestly, this is one product I have been always curious about, and after few months of waiting and reading reviews, I finally gave it a try, and I am happy I did.

Naturactor has also been dubbed the "Magic Concealer". And after trying it for the first time, indeed I can say that the "Magic" is true. I am in love with this product & I swear at how efficient it is! Definitely, a little goes a long way. After using a very little amount, I didn't feel that I even needed any foundation at all. It glides smoothly on my skin and does not settle in the fine lines and does not cake even after an entire day. I didn't need any powder either as it has a powdery, matte finish! Shade #140 which is for fair complexion with yellowish undertone is the perfect shade for me too! Really matches my skin tone!

It is available in 5 shades, and here are its descriptions:
130 - Light color, makes pale or dull skin have a rosy effect and look more youthful. Suitable for very fair skin tone. Delicate, especially for bridal make up. For MAC NC 15-20 users. Has pink undertone.
140 - Light in color but slightly deeper than the 130. Suitable for fair skin tone. For MAC NC 25, 30 and 35 users. Has yellow undertone.
141 - Medium color and a natural skin color fit yet has translucent effect. Suitable for fair skin tone as shading. Suitable for stage/studio makeup. Suitable for medium skin tone. For MAC NC 40-42 users. Has pink undertone.
151 - Good coverage for face defects and shading. Suitable for malay skin tone. For MAC NC 45 users. Has yellow undertone.
171 - Green neutralizes any redness on your face, from broken blood vessels, blemishes, irritation etc. It helps inhibit red complexion and effectively covers the red spots left by acne.

Here are some of the benefits of Naturactor:
1. Can instantly cover pigmentation, scars, acne scars, blemishes.
2. Long staying power - Lasted me the whole day!
3. Withstands heat & humidity.
4. Powdery, Matte finish.
5. Comes in different shades.
6. UV ray protection.
7. Easy to apply. Glides on smoothly.
8. Does not feel sticky or heavy.
9. Doesn't feel like you have anything on.
10. A little goes a long way.
I am really thankful that I gave this product a try, and it is worth every bucks I spent on it. It may look to small, it is packed on a 20 grams jar, but it will surely last for months. It is also made from natural ingredients which made it ideal for those who have sensitive skin like I do. This is definitely a must-have, even for those who doesn't usually wears foundation, because it might come handy in special occasions or instances wherein you may need instant coverage.

Thank you for reading!

Ojon Restorative Hair Treatment review

Happy Earth Month! That’s right, what began as Earth Day in 1970 has now become a whole month dedicated to increased green awareness. We’re going to kick it off with one of my personal favorite Natural hair lines; Ojon and their iconic product, the Restorative Hair Treatment.
If you’ve ever been interested in trying this product, now is the time! Because during the month of April, Ojon will donate 10% of Treatment sales at Sephora (in store and online) to their partners at the Rainforest Alliance.
This partnership, and the product whose sales they chose to benefit it, makes perfect sense. The main ingredient in the Restorative Hair Treatment (and the product in their line that has the largest concentration of it) is what they’ve dubbed Ojon oil. It’s a palm nut oil that can only be found in remote tropical rainforests of Central America. The nut that produces the oil is harvested and extracted by the Miskito Indians (or Tawira, in their native language), as they have done for over 500 years. The delicate method continues to be done entirely by hand to help ensure the protection and sustainability of the natural environments of Honduras.
But here’s the thousand dollar question, does it work? Because as you may know, it isn’t cheap ($55 for 4.5 oz). Here’s a hint, they don’t call the Tawira “the people of beautiful hair” for nothing!
The Restorative Hair Treatment contains no water or silicones. It’s pure, rich, and highly concentrated in a thick, hard butter form. With the enclosed wooden comb, you scoop a small bit into your palm and rub to emulsify it. Then, run it through your hair from roots to ends, treating both your scalp and hair (and your hands! Mine felt fabulous afterward.) You leave it on for 20 minutes and can even heat it with a hair dryer for extra moisturizing. Or better still, wear it to bed with a shower cap.
The results? Nothing short of amazing. My color-treated, desperately in need of some TLC hair felt softer than it has in ages and looked noticeably healthier after just one use. It may just be the deepest conditioning I’ve ever given myself. Expensive, yes. But I found the result to be well worth it.
And then there’s the scent…
There’s 2 camps on this: people who love the scent, people who hate the scent. If you’ve tried Ojon, you know what I mean. Due to the Ojon oil, all of the products have a very distinct smell to them. Because the Restorative Hair Treatment has the highest concentration of oil, it also has the most concentrated scent. Those who like it (I’m one of them) will liken it to chocolate or cocoa, coffee, incense, even soil. Those who don’t seem to pick up on a smokiness. Regardless what notes you pick up, there’s no denying it’s a rich, earthy scent. And personally, with these results, even if I didn’t like the smell, I’d use it!

Julie Hewett Jacqueline lipstick

Forget the Civil War, or the Crusades, or Jennifer Aniston vs. Angelina Jolie — the truly eternal conflict on this planet is lipstick versus lipgloss. Lipstick gives you a true, rich color, generally has a consistent texture across brands, and usually lasts longer (if applied the right way). Lipgloss, on the other hand, is shiny, can possibly taste good, and, on occasion, can plump your lips up, collagen-style.
The gloss-or-stick war is a stalemate of World War proportions. The split in my makeup collection is actually about even. I often layer gloss on top of stick. The two different types of products often require different uses– lipstick for a conservative office, lipgloss for a night on the town. Lipstick is the old-school classic. So much so that they were wearing it in ancient Egypt. Queen Cleopatra wore coloring from crushed beetles and ants to make her pout rouge! Lipgloss is the new kid on the block – Max Factor invented the original, called X-Rated in 1932 and the original formula was sold up until 2003 (and was my introduction into lipgloss addiction, thank you very much ~Stef)
But, in the case of we heart this favorite Julie Hewett Bijou Lipsticks–specifically the bright posy-pink Jacqueline – lipstick has KO’d gloss this round. This lipstick is creamy and light. It’s not sticky and it doesn’t taste like vinyl or something equally undesirable–it must be the Essence of Orange Blossom which Hollywood pro Julie Hewett adds to her concoction. Worn alone it’s a pretty sheer pink tint. I layer a clear lip balm before smoothing on a couple layers of Jacqueline for a gorgeous “lip-stain” looking pink pout.
Here at we heart this, the general agreement is that Miss Hewett creates the Best Lipsticks Ever…just check out Christy’s take on The Perfect Red Lipstick from the wht archives. Every JHLA lipstick the review team encounters receives similar raves, “sleek functional packaging,” “a smooth and long lasting formula,” “a gorgeous and flattering shade”, and Jacqueline deserves the same praise.

Venus Embrace

venus 5 blade embrace razerIt was only a matter of time, I suppose, until Venus came out with this: their newest razer, called Embrace, has 5 blades. The head seems to be slightly smaller than the usual ones, but overall that seems to help the maneuverability.
This has been at drugstores for quite some time, and is pretty much the best you can get.

New! Estee Lauder Double Wear Light

The Estee Lauder Double Wear line is makeup that’s meant to last a long time, and there are some real winners. The regular Double Wear foundation is Estee Lauder’s best-selling, and I love their new mascara.
And now there’s a new great product that I absolutely love, and wear all the time: Double Wear Light Foundation.estee lauder double wear
It’s got the coverage of a tinted moisturizer (meaning sheer to light) but it goes one step further: it stays on all day! Even if you have oily skin, you’ll see that this does not break down or turn orange on the skin. It just wears and wears. Also, you don’t need to apply powder on top of it because it sets to a matte finish, and you can almost look like you’re not wearing foundation at all.
If you have normal to dry skin, I would definitely recommend moisturizing beforehand so that it doesn’t stick to any dry spots. This foundation is going to be especially useful in the hot and humid summer months.
If you want it, head to your Estee Lauder counter soon, because it’s been selling quick!

Green Monday Suggestion: Pea & Pepper Risotto

It’s another Green Monday here at we heart this and I have a very spring dinner suggestion for my Meatless Monday chicks. I’ve been daydreaming of attempting this vegetarian friendly, Pea and Black Pepper Risotto since the moment I saw the recipe on my favorite home site, shelterrific.
Since I’ve been on vacation and visiting family these last two weeks, I haven’t been on the computer (a self imposed sabbatical can be good sometimes), nonetheless have the time to try this seasonally perfect and (seemingly) straightforward risotto. I’ve always been a bit leery of attempting a risotto; if there is one thing Top Chef has taught me over the years it is Beware of the Risotto – That Way Lies Danger. But the savvy folks at shelterrific have never steered me wrong, so I have faith this recipe can be a success for this risotto novice.
So a big thanks to Stef for working doubly hard while I was lazing about a spa with my Mom and sisters. She rocks! Now, it’s off to the market to pick up supplies, including vegetarian stock for the Pea and Black Pepper Risotto.
